Love and opposites...

As Francesca said, we share a connection and affection for one another that can't really be fully explained. Like things that happen to us...she has a cold, we talk to find out I also have a cold.  Sunday when we talked her girls had made pancakes, and I had made pancakes that morning as well (not something either one of us makes often at all).  We could keep going with examples of these parallel experiences and shared energy. For all of the things that Francesca is, I am in many ways not.  The Yin to her Yang. She has these three beautiful daughters that are her heart...and I also love them so!   But I never had the desire to have children of my own. I work with children, and cherish the work that I do.  I have four nephews that I adore and enjoy every moment that I spend with them.   However I enjoy coming home to my cats and my husband and some of the space that that kind of lifestyle affords me. And the travel...without which I may not have met Francesca!

Lisa and I share lots of things... and some may be not so much... But we really love each other more than we can explain. So, just let me tell you something about me too... First of all, my life really changed since i was mum. I never thought about having 3 sons before, never been one of those baby-teen-woman choosing son's names since ever... it just happened and I'm so proud and happy about. My girls are clever, beautiful and special so I really NEED to be helpful for others having less lucky than me. After a life of big dogs, i completly felt in love with this spoiled, sleeping under courtains, terrible dogs. Ettore and Eva. Not ever, not for everyone, but cooking is still one of the known ways to demonstrate people my love. I'd travel every day everywhere... And in a way I do it working in my B&B, listening to others stories and meeting cultures, peoples, memories. I really love to wake up early, having some time just for me.

I love to read.  Francesca also loves to read.  In our equally busy lives, we still most often end our days with at least a chapter or two in the book we are currently reading. There is something sort of comforting about leaving "real life" just for a few moments each day and before you head off into a night of dreams. I also love to read all types of books.  Female crime authors, women's modern fiction, pop psych, historical fiction, young adult fiction...the list is long.  When we were traveling this summer, I read a book review of this book, Joyful by Ingrid Fetell Lee.  I was happy to find it in the Chicago airport this weekend, and have spent a good deal of time reading it.  While I'm not finished (so I won't consider this at all a book review), I have been struck at the first several chapters and how they speak to the joy I find when I visit Italy. Now, "of course", you say, I find joy in Italy.  It's beautiful, the people are won

So you've read how we met, and you've maybe come to understand that Francesca and I enjoy a very close friendship.  Here is another story of us...and how we discovered something we shared in common (with another friend as well). We arrived for our stay with Francesca for Christmas 2015.  One of her friends, Anna, and her family came to celebrate Christmas Eve with us.  Anna was sweet and curious about us, and I could tell she had a generous soul.  One thing that told me so was that Anna had made bread and brought it for our Christmas Day lunch the next day.  I enjoy baking, so homemade bread is a wonderful thing to enjoy.  But this was no ordinary loaf of bread. It seemed to be perfect in every bread way...a crisp outside layer, followed by a soft and chewy inside, full of amazing seeds and flavor.  I mentioned to Francesca how much I loved this bread, and she invited Anna over to give me a lesson in how to make her amazing bread. During this bread making lesson, we
